The Catalogue

1. The Holy Face and the Work of Reparation

Originally entitled, The Life of Sr. Mary of St. Peter, Carmelite of Tours. Written by Herself, (Vie Soeur Sainte-Pierre, Carmelite de Tour), the book was edited by Abbè Pierre Janvier, and published in 1884. It is compiled primarily of the letters of Sr Marie de St Pierre, the Mother Superior, and other contemporaries, accompanied by the editor’s thoughts and wisdom.

The book details the life of a holy Carmelite nun in France in the mid-nineteenth century, who received communications from Our Blessed Lord with regard to His desire for the ‘Work of Reparation’ and devotion to His Most Holy Face, the Veronica. So beautiful are the revelations and wisdom of her spiritual life, that it seems a guide to life, as well as the pertinent with regard to the request from Our Lord, that seems more than ever a necessity today.

The ‘Work of Reparation’ is the call to penance, to repare for the sins which offend God the most in these modern times. The sins of blasphemy, the profanation of Sunday and holy days of obligation, and Communism.

Book Details: Hardback with gold embossing; A5, 309 pages; £13 (plus postage)

2. The Apostle of the Sacred Heart

Written by Margaret Yeo, this book was originally published in Britain in 1940 by Oates & Washbourne. Originally entitled, Blessed Claude de la Colombiere, Apostle of the Sacred Heart, and in the US, These Three Hearts. Blessed Claude de le Colombière, Saint Margaret Mary, and the Sacred Heart.

Written as the life of Blessed Claude de la Colombière, it journeys through his life and vocation as a Jesuit, as spiritual director to St Margaret Mary Alacoque, and as the chaplain of the Duchess of York, (later Queen Mary Beatrice of Modena), in England in the 1670s. Yeo brings to life the history of the period, and the holiness of these saints, including the most important revelations of the Sacred Heart, preached first, it would seem, in England to the Italian princess, her entourage, and those allowed into the chapel.

In 1843, Our Lord revealed to Sr. Marie de St. Pierre, the Carmelite of Tours, that He desired a devotion to His Holy Face to be established. The purpose of this devotion was to make amends for the offences in these modern times, especially the sins of blasphemy, the profanation of Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, and Communism. Certain prayers and promises were given to the Carmelite from Our Blessed Lord. He said:

“All who honour My Holy Face in a spirit of reparation thereby perform for Me the services of the pious Veronica.”

4. Manual of the Archconfraternity of the Holy Face – The Prayers

The Manual of the Archconfraternity of the Holy Face, was first compiled and published in 1887, by Abbè Pierre Janvier. We have re-printed just the prayers of this essential prayer book (April 2026).

The original book is a combination of prayers and the official documents of the establishment of the Archconfraternity by Pope Leo XIII. We divided the book into two so that the prayer book is small enough to carry with you. We hope in the future to publish the documents as a companion volume, making it a two volume series, if there is the demand.

Book Details: Paperback, A6, 170 pages; £5 (plus postage)
